My thoughts have been ruminating on a celestial note this past month… i’ve been watching Neil Gaiman’s epic blockbuster on TV – American Gods (a clash between the old Gods and the new) – there’s plenty of star-gazing and mysticism. I’ve also re-discovered everything Fornasetti and fallen in love with the delicate Astronomici collection.
So when came across Brooklyn ceramist Michelle Quan’s incredibly celestial work, I was smitten. Ceramic dishes, bowls, vases and wind-chimes are built by hand, wheel thrown in stoneware or porcelain and features striking moons, half moons, eclipses and lace-like constellations painted by hand. I want them all.
